The center, painted in doucai with a single large scene of the famed Eight Horses of the Zhou Dynasty ruler Wang Mu; the inner rim, in famille verte, with reserves of birds in flowering branches.The underside with a slightly recessed cinquefoil reserve with a lotus flower.

Note:The combination of doucai and famille verte on one object is extremely rare, as is the underfoot. A related plate with landscape decoration that was in the historic Collection of Augustus the Strong (1670-1733) is in the Zwinger Museum, Dresden.
