Rare Chinese Sancai Glazed Crayfish Ewer

Ming dynasty, late-16th century


Of realistic form, posed on a promontory with lotus flowers and stems and crested waves with leaping carp.  Glazed in deep enamel and slight gold-wash.
Height: 8 inches (20 cm.)
Almost identical examples: Rijksmuseum,  Amsterdam; Baur Collection, Geneva; and the historic court collections in Dresden and Sweden.
