Rare Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Silk Culture Plate

Kangxi period, ca: late 17th century


Decorated with a scene of silk cultivation, based upon a woodblock print commissioned by the Kangxi Emperor in 1696.  Prints from this book became a source for decoration on porcelain.  Examples include a vase in the Taft Museum, Cincinnati, another in the Shanghai Museum, and others in important private collections.
