Rare Blanc de Chine Porcelain Rhyton Cup

Description

Of rare type being unfooted. Decorated in relief on one side with Immortals playing weiqi on one side, and with a sleeping scholar on the other.
Height: 3 ½ inches (9 cm.)
Ex: Private New York collection from the mid-1900s.

An almost identical example is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (from the collection of Gilbert Ireland, acq. 2012).   Another is in the British Museum from the colleciton of P.J. Donnelly.  Donnelly was the famed author of Blanc de Chine, the seminal work on this type of porclain that was published in 1969.
