Fine Chinese Famille Verte Glazed Biscuit Porcelain Seated Boy

Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722


Finely modeled and posed seated with hands raised and face turned towards the viewer.
Dressed in a large jacket most beautifully decorated  with flowers and tendrils upon a bright green ground.  His face with finely modeled features and delightful smiling expression.
Height with base: 8 ¼ inches (21 cm.)

Presumed from John D. Rockefeller Collection (with inventory numbers and characteristic
beautifully carved and fitted “Rockefeller” base).
Note: Figures of boys were popular and connected for the hope for sons.  This is a particularly fine example and the decoration is equally superb.  Similar and related exampled may be found in important and classic private museum collections including the former J.P. Morgan Collection, Goldschmidt Collection, and Taft Museum.
