Chinese Sancai Glazed Biscuit Porcelain Teapot

Kangxi period


Of bamboo-form, based upon a Yixing type. Most finely painted in deep enamels.
Height: 4 ½ inches (11.5 cm)
An almost identical Teapot is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (acquired for the collection in 1879 from Samuel Avery, Sr.).  Another is in the Victoria & Albert Museum (Salting bequest, 1910).  Other similar examples include ones in the Leonard Gow Collection, Scotland (late 19th/ early 20th century collection), and the Taft Collection, Cincinnati (early 20th century collection).
