Chinese Famille Verte Cabinet Rouleau Vase

Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722


Decorated with large-scale Daoist Immortals, all finely painted in bright famille verte enamels.
Height: 10 ½ inches (26.7 cm.)
Ex Collection: Sarah Mae “Maisie” Caldwell Rovensky (Mrs. John E. Rovensky and the former Mrs. Morton F. Plant).  Maisie Rovensky was at the time one of the wealthiest women in the United States and owned a fame double strand of pearls that her husband (Morton F. Plant) traded his mansion with the firm Cartier that became their now landmarked-store on Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street- just up the block from our Gallery.  This vase was from her collection kept at her former mansion located at 1051 Fifth Avenue at 86th Street that was eventually torn down and redeveloped into an apartment building.
